This Calculator calculates the volume and surface area of a spherical cap.

To perform the calculation, enter the spherical radius and the height of the cap. Then press the 'Calculate' button.

What is spherical cap?

The spherical cap is the portion of a sphere that lies above a plane of the sphere.

A spherical cap is a part of a sphere that is obtained by cutting it with a plane.

It is the section of a sphere that extends above the sphere’s plane and formed when a plane cuts off a part of a sphere.

What is the Formulas for calculating the cap of a sphere?

1. Sphere Volume= 4 * π * R3 / 3

2. Sphere Surface Area = 4 * π * R2

3. Spherical Cap Volume = π * h2 * (3R - h) / 3

4. Spherical Cap Surface Area = S = 2 * π * R * h

5. Spherical Cap Height = h = R - √(R2 - a2)

6. Spherical Cap Radius = a = √(R2 - (R-h)2)

7. Spherical Cap Base Area = A = a2 ⋅ π

8. Spherical Cap Total Surface Area = Sseg = S + A
